90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3

Surviving and thriving in 2025 as a Podcaster

Hey Creators,

90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3," a sobering statistic highlighted in discussions on the r/podcasting subreddit.

While the technical barriers to entry for podcasting are low, many creators lack the proper mindset or approach, leading to a high attrition rate.

I'm here to help you overcome this.

After producing over 150 podcasts, I can say it's a demanding endeavor. Unless you truly love it, there are definitely easier ways to express yourself.

While I don't want to discourage you, it's important to acknowledge that the podcasting landscape in 2025 is highly competitive. A strong mindset and a clear strategy are essential for success.

If you're launching a podcast in 2025:

  • Aim to release 20 episodes within the first 6 months. This provides a consistent output and gives you valuable learning experiences.

  • Embrace the long term – success rarely happens overnight. Building a loyal audience takes time and consistent effort. Focus on creating high-quality content and building a community around your show.

  • Make each episode 1% better than the last. Continuously refine your interviewing style, audio and video quality, and overall production value.

In addition to these practical tips, shifting your perspective in these areas can be invaluable. Here are a few mindset shifts to consider as you approach your show:

  • Consistency over perfection: Focus on regular publishing rather than striving for flawless episodes in every instance.

  • Build relationships, not just an audience: Engage with your listeners, respond to comments, and encourage a sense of community.

  • View challenges as opportunities: Use setbacks and obstacles as learning experiences to improve your podcasting skills and grow as a creator.

We Create Creators

Our first podcast cohort, launched amidst the holiday season, featured three passionate founders.

One of them, initially drawn to podcasting as a recreational pursuit, stumbled upon a compelling opportunity to leverage the medium for social change.

As the owner of a small trucking company, he recognized the platform's potential to shed light on the industry's systemic flaws.

He described how the current system often forces smaller players into a precarious race to the bottom, where they are treated as commodities, struggling to maintain profitability while grappling with the high costs of equipment and the ever-present risk of liabilities.

Our inaugural cohort successfully wrapped up on January 3rd! We're pumped to announce the launch of our second cohort starting January 27th, 2025.

Registration opens Sunday, January 19th. This cohort will be an accelerated 4-week program. Don't hesitate to me if you have any questions.

P.S. Get ready for 'Creators Copywriting Brigade,' my new show launching soon! I'm passionate about the power of writing for creators, and I'll be interviewing other creators about their unique writing frameworks, hooks, and the strategies that make them successful.

CCB coming soon.

We are looking forward to seeing you all next week!
